Ghibli's Grand Warehouse
— The indoor core of Ghibli Park in Aichi
The one roofed area of Ghibli Park, worked into a former public swimming pool on the old World Expo ground east of Nagoya. Exhibitions, a small screening room, a children's play floor and a shopping street all sit under a single retained shell.

How to actually get there
- Nagoya Station → Fujigaoka (Subway Higashiyama Line, eastbound to the terminus).
- Fujigaoka → Ai-Chikyuhaku-kinen-koen (Linimo).
- Station → park north entrance → the Grand Warehouse (on foot).
- Show the ticket QR code at the warehouse door; a wristband from another area is not enough here.
- Subway to Fujigaoka, then the Linimo
- Nagoya Station →(Subway Higashiyama Line, eastbound to its terminus)→ Fujigaoka →(Linimo, six stops)→ Ai-Chikyuhaku-kinen-koen Station, which sits against the park's north side. Both legs run every few minutes, so no timetable planning is needed.
- Return the same way
- Take the Linimo back to Fujigaoka and the Higashiyama Line into central Nagoya. Both run well into the evening, so the return is rarely the problem — the crowd on the Linimo platform straight after closing is. Wait it out in the park and the ride back is an easy one.
About the place
Ghibli Park is not one gated park but five areas scattered through Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, a public park in Nagakute, east of Nagoya. The Grand Warehouse is the area that sits indoors. Its shell is a former public swimming pool: the outer walls and the main structural frame were kept, and the display rooms were built as a separate structure nested inside them. Under that roof are a screening room, standing exhibitions on Studio Ghibli's films and its production work, play rooms for children, a small shopping street, shops and places to eat. Because it is enclosed, this is the part of the park that does not turn on the weather.
How to enjoy it
The ticket for this area carries a fixed entry time, so treat your slot, not the opening time, as the appointment and go in during the window that follows it. Re-entry to the warehouse only reopens later in the afternoon, which makes it worth finishing this floor before heading out to the open-air areas. Tickets are released month by month, from the tenth of the month two months ahead, through the park's online agent and at Lawson and MiniStop counters.
Background & history
The ground here was the venue for the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi and became a prefectural park afterwards, still called Moricoro Park by people nearby. Ghibli Park opened inside it on 1 November 2022, with the Grand Warehouse as its indoor centrepiece. Rather than clear the ageing pool building on the site, the designers kept its outer walls and main frame and set the display rooms inside as a separate structure. Two more areas followed, the last of them in March 2024, which completed the plan.
Before you go
- Cash
- The Linimo leg from Fujigaoka is listed at 360 yen for an adult on the operator's fare table, and IC cards work on both the subway and the Linimo. Park tickets are a separate matter: they cannot be bought at the gate, only reserved beforehand online or at Lawson and MiniStop counters.
- Before you go
- The park keeps a weekly closing day and takes maintenance breaks, and the calendar shifts around public holidays, so check the official calendar before fixing a date. Moving between areas means walking outdoors, with long stretches that have little shade.
- Another way
- Direct buses run to the park from the Meitetsu Bus Center at Nagoya Station and from Chubu Centrair International Airport, which is the simpler option with luggage. There is no dedicated car park for Ghibli Park itself.
- After you get off
- Leave Ai-Chikyuhaku-kinen-koen Station and the park's north entrance is right there; the Grand Warehouse building stands a few minutes further in.
